Discrimination
To discriminate is to recognize a distinction; to discern. Discernment takes some skill and attention. How do we know if we like vanilla or chocolate? We taste test, we reflect on what taste was most pleasing. In our emotional lives, discrimination is certainly more complex than taste testing. However, we can be guided by our senses. How do we feel, how is our body, our speech, in a given situation?
Learning to read your own signals is important, and so is trusting the read out that you receive.
In Jungian psychology, discrimination is considered a masculine attribute. it is direct, and unwavering. It cuts and clarifies, making well-defined boundaries.
Marion Woodman states, ” Positive masculine energy is goal oriented,
has the strength of purpose to move toward the goal.
It disciplines itself to make the most of its gifts,
physical, emotional, spiritual.
It attempts to bring them into harmony.
it learns to hold the tension between a firm standpoint and a surrender to the creative feminine within.”
