Leaving My Mother’s House

Jungian analyst, Marion Woodman, wrote a book entitled Leaving My Father’s House. It is a book about the journey that some women choose to take in order to regain the conscious feminine.
Lately, I have been intriqued by the thought of another book entitled, Leaving My Mother’s House. In my work with women, i find that women really need to seperate themselves from their mother’s values in order to be their own person. This takes alot of discrimination. Usually, we think we are nothing like our mother’s at all (or hope we’re not)! However, in the shadows lurk
similiarities. After all, she is our major role model early on about what being a woman is all about. if we don’t do the seperating work, we may unconsciously be living her values, not our own.
