Mentoring
Another hat that I sometimes wear is that of mentor for people’s independent Master’s and PhD. Programs. I love academic work where someone has the freedom to develop a program that suits them, in an area, or areas, of interest that address their true passions. The transformations that take place in pursuing education in this way is phenomenal.
In the past year, I have mentored someone receiving their Master’s degree from NYU. She choose to focus on yoga and art-making, and how these two practices had literally saved her life and helped her to crawl out of a serious addiction.
I have also mentored someone in their program of grief and loss certification through Southwestern College.
I am currently mentoring someone who is pursuing a Master’s Degree through Prescott College in Arizona.
Her program consists of three study and research areas: Archetypes in Women’s Art of the 21st Century, Shamanism, Spirituality and the Dark Feminine, and the Dark Feminine in Fairy Tales and Mythology.
This student will have the oppurtunity to engage her own studio work, as well.
What an exciting adventure! It is wonderful for me to be a participant in such a rich learning experience, bearing witness to what unfolds.
