The Sacred Box
A client came in today and shared with me a box that she had made, in response to a conversation that we had last week. In our conversation, this client described an experience of guided meditation: “When I stand in the crucible of my open heart, I can receive anything.” After this sharing, I suggested that she might make an art piece of this feeling and experience.
She made a box, calling it ”A Golden Prayer Box”. When I asked her questions about it, she described the box this way:
” It contains magic and remembrance. It’s a cauldron in and of itself, it brings the disparate elements into a cohesive whole.”
The box contains objects, stones, bones, shells, etc. that are meaningful and symbolic to the client. Making it has been healing for her, as she stated, “It’s ecstatic
when spirit speaks, I have to bring it into form.”
