Surrender to the expressions that want to come through you each moment. This is what we learn to do in Intuitive Painting. One participant said, ” I let the brush tell me what it will do next.” “Surrender to the process” is a phrase that we hear alot about. In painting, we’re immediately challenged to do this, right on the spot. How much we force control and criticize what we do, or how much we can let go into the process can unfold many times as we approach and retreat from the painting we are working on. Having a dialogue and listening to the needs of the painting helps us to remove our control over it. The practice of doing this is also a metaphor in life. For example, can we listen to the soul’s needs over the ego’s demands? Listening to the still, small voice takes practice, and can be very calming and affirming.
